The bulk of our projects fall within major renovations; however, we were thrilled to pause on construction and help these clients with furniture & styling. They relocated to Charlotte to be closer to family as they were soon welcoming their first baby. We curated their living room and primary bedroom more fitting to their style & needs. Our Full Design Service helped them move in with ease so they could immediately enjoy their new home. The goal was a light & bright aesthetic with a blend of feminine & masculine elements resulting in a cozy and sophisticated oasis.
The first line of order was removing an abundance of wallpaper and painting all of the interior a bright crispy white. Because of house position we had to use 4 shades of white to establish a unified coloration throughout; including BM Chantilly Lace, BM Cloud White, BM Alabaster, and SW Greek Villa.
We chose BM Cloud White for the living room because its warm cozy undertone paired well with the existing built-ins and adjacent kitchen cabinets.
Second line of order was minor electrical changes within the living room. We moved the tv hook up to the opposite wall, installed LED can lights, and removed outlets in awkward locations. This provided additional lighting at night and allowed for a better space plan with furniture placement.
Our clients wanted a casual living room where they can lay back and relax, so we sourced an oversized sectional paired with deep seated accent chairs. We opted for an ottoman in lieu of a coffee table for dual function. The Crypton fabrics & leather chairs make for easy maintenance providing our clients longevity within their investment. Custom window treatments soften the oversized windows adding a cozy layer to the overall space, & subtle moments of contrast compliment the masculine appearance of the accent chairs.
One of our favorite moments is the banquet breakfast nook built into the kitchen. We added a custom bench cushion wrapped in a performance fabric for extra coziness. We sourced a solid wood table paired with leather woven chairs and topped everything off with an adorable modern chandelier. The mix of materials generates a cohesive flow between the existing kitchen and new living room.
Another great space in this house is the primary bedroom. The bones of this room were adorable; however, it lacked the sophistication our clients were looking for. We say it all the time, but intentional furniture curations resolve each & every time. The power within a great paint selection & thorough furniture plan is undeniable. We applied BM Chantilly Lace to the walls & ceiling to give us a bright clean canvas to work from.
The vision for this room was a calm, serene oasis. We added stylish layers complimentary of the other rooms. We layered in gentle patterns & shades of blue to keep the room from falling flat. The custom window treatments really elevated this space by providing the sophisticated coziness we were seeking. We refer to lighting as the jewelry of the home, and this room is no exception. The designer lamps & chandelier add an elegant finish taking this primary bedroom to the next level.
We aim for consistency within a curation(s), so in this room we integrated gentle contrast within the hardware & wall art. Generating moments of interest moves the eye around the room; therefore, we ensure to repeat a material or finish elsewhere giving it another purpose around the space. For instance, the curtain rods match the dresser hardware, and both compliment the contrast within the wall art.
We thoroughly enjoyed helping these clients settle into their new home. We are excited to watch their family grow, and we wish them many years of happiness within their new abode.
