Brookhaven Project | Kitchen

In 2021 we were blessed with the opportunity to collaborate with an amazing family in bringing their dream kitchen and primary bathroom to life. Their vision included a classic aesthetic layered with a serene palette and natural textures. Thanks to appliance rentals, we were able to complete both spaces just in time for Christmas 2021; however, the new gas range took 18 months to arrive; therefore, we are finally ready to share the beautiful details within the kitchen.

Before we get into it, please enjoy a few before images as we reminisce together. What was dark and dated, is now a light and bright foundation where the family continues making wonderful memories together.

In this space, we sourced all new cabinetry, hardware, countertops, appliances, floor stain, lighting, and furniture. We enclosed one cased opening to increase storage, and widened the adjacent opening to enhance the flow of natural light. We integrated feminine arches in all openings to add an elevated timeless element.

Storage space and a large island were at the top of the wish list, and because we weren't adding square footage, precise space planning was crucial. The laundry room (just off of the garage entry) had to stay; therefore, we had to get creative with an already tight corner within this space.

We eliminated the small pantry and kitchen side cased opening. By doing this, we increased wall availability which allowed for new storage cabinets. The floor to ceiling pantry doubled their storage space, and increased functionality. Interior rolling trays make their stored goods easily accessible.

The gorgeous built-in refrigerator provides a strong focal on this side of the kitchen. The additional height in both the refrigerator and upper cabinets draw your eye up which creates the illusion of a taller ceiling and wider space.

We designed a clean lined hood surround wrapped in a plaster application and reclaimed wood band. This combination adds the perfect amount of texture and character we were seeking. The subtle hints of black and natural wood cabinets provide soft contrast keeping this overall neutral space from falling flat.

This family loves to entertain; therefore, a bar area in the breakfast nook was the perfect addition to enjoy when gathering with loved ones. The round dining table provides ample seating for their daily family meals, and the mix of texture and finishes provides a sophisticated yet cozy space to use for many years to come.

And last but not least, staged in front of their bay window are two sophisticated accent chairs where the husband and wife can lounge with a glass of wine and deep conversation where they often enjoy "date night". The low profile chairs provide ample seating space without distracting from the gorgeous view of their backyard oasis.

We greatly enjoyed this project, as we loved getting to know this precious family. From the start, they fully trusted our team, and because of their trust and faith, they're now enjoying the beautiful results of a strong collaboration.
